358 - Al-Maymuni reported to us, saying: Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, saying: 'Isa—meaning Ibn Yunus—narrated to us, from 'Umar ibn Sa'id, from 'Abdullah ibn Abi Mulaykah, who said: We used to invoke mercy for 'Umar until he was placed upon his bier—may Allah have mercy on him. Then a man came and invoked mercy upon him and said: "There is no one whose deeds I would prefer to meet Allah—the Exalted and Majestic—with more than you. I used to think that Allah would place you with your two companions, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying very often: 'I, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar were; I, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar went; and I, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar said.' I used to think that Allah would place you with your two companions." I then turned around, and it was 'Ali ibn Abi Talib—may Allah have mercy on him.
