39 - Muhammad informed us, saying: Waki' reported, from Shu'bah, from 'Attab, the mawla (freedman) of Ibn Hurmuz, who said: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: "We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to hear and obey." He then said: "Insofar as you are able."
٣٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَ وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَتَّابٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: " بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ، فَقَالَ: «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ»
