Translation · EN

Then he returned to the hadith of Sallam, who said: He read his covenant to them, so they said: "Ask us for whatever you wish." He said: "I ask you for food to eat and fodder for this donkey of mine." They said: "Ask us [for something else]." He said: "Did I not ask you for food to eat and fodder for this donkey of mine?" He stayed with them for as long as Allah willed, then 'Umar wrote to him to return. He said: So he departed, and when news of his arrival reached 'Umar, he hid in a place where he could see him. When he saw him in the same state he was in when he had departed from him, 'Umar came to him, embraced him, and said: "You are my brother, and I am your brother."
