I said: 'What is the position regarding that?' He said: 'Refraining [from fighting], for we find reports from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, from more than one source saying: "As for what they pray, then do not [fight them]."' I then asked Ahmad about [participating in] Jihad and Jumu'ah prayers with them, and he said: 'You shall perform Jihad with them.'
فَقُلْتُ: فَمَا الْقَوْلُ فِي ذَلِكَ، قَالَ: الْكَفُّ؛ لَأَنَّا نَجِدُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ غَيْرِ وَجْهٍ: «أَمَّا مَا صَلَّوْا فَلَا» . فَسَأَلْتُ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ الْجِهَادِ وَالْجُمُعَاتِ مَعَهُمْ؟ قَالَ: «تُجَاهِدُ مَعَهُمْ»
