489 - Abu Bakr al-Marrudhi informed us, regarding this issue, that he said to Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal]: 'Ibn al-Dawraqi said something regarding the hadith of Abd Allah ibn Zalim.' Abu Abd Allah said: 'Did he say to you: "I do not say that they are in Paradise, nor do we bear witness [to it]"? This is an evil statement.' Abu Abd Allah said: 'Ali ibn al-Madini came here and manifested this view, and a group followed him in this, so we censured them for that. Abu Khaythama followed me [in this censure], and we said: "We do bear witness."
