508 - Muhammad ibn Abi Harun informed me that Ishaq narrated to them that Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] said: "I do not subscribe to what the Kufans, such as Ibrahim and others, narrated, nor to what the people of Medina narrated; they do not grant merit to any one [of the Companions] over another."
٥٠٨ - أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي هَارُونَ، أَنَّ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَهُمْ، أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: «لَا أَذْهَبُ إِلَى مَا رَوَى الْكُوفِيُّونَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَغَيْرُهُ، وَلَا إِلَى مَا رَوَى أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ، لَا يُفَضِّلُونَ أَحَدًا عَلَى أَحَدٍ»
