Al-Sunnah by Abu Bakr ibn al-Khallal
Volume 2 · Page 241The censure of those who claim that (the order is) Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, then Ali in terms of excellence; the argument herein is that Ali is the most excellent of those remaining after Uthman by the consensus of the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace

Translation · EN

The onus is upon whoever says: "Abu Bakr, then 'Umar, then 'Uthman, then 'Ali" regarding superiority. The evidence for that is that 'Ali is the most superior of those who remained after 'Uthman, by the consensus of the Companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
