606 - Ahmad informed me, saying: Muhammad ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, saying: I heard Salamah ibn Shabib say: The last thing upon which I parted from Abu ‘Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Hanbal regarding the order of precedence was when he said: "Go to the Hadith of Safinah regarding the order of precedence and the caliphate."
٦٠٦ - أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ شَبِيبٍ، يَقُولُ: آخِرُ مَا فَارَقْتُ عَلَيْهِ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ فِي التَّفْضِيلِ قَالَ: «اذْهَبْ إِلَى حَدِيثِ سَفِينَةَ فِي التَّفْضِيلِ وَالْخِلَافَةِ»
