- 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Surayj ibn al-Nu'man narrated to us, saying: Hashraj narrated to us, saying: I said to Sa'id ibn Jumhan: "Where did you meet Safinah?" He said: "At Batn Nakhla, during the time of al-Hajjaj."

- 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: I said to my father: "Is this Sa'id ibn Jumhan an unknown man?" He said: "No, more than one person has narrated from him: Hammad ibn Salamah, Hammad ibn Zayd, al-'Awwam ibn Hawshab, and Hashraj ibn Nubatah."

- Muhammad ibn 'Ali informed us, saying: Muhanna narrated to us, saying: I asked Ahmad about Hashraj ibn Nubatah, and he said: "There is no harm in him." I said: "Is he a Basran?" He said: "I do not know, but Sa'id ibn Jumhan, who narrated from him, is a Basran."

- Muhammad ibn 'Ali informed me in another place, saying: Muhanna narrated to us, saying: I asked Ahmad about Hashraj ibn Nubatah, and he said: "There is no harm in him." I said: "Where was he from?" He said: "A Basran." I said: "Did he narrate from anyone other than Sa'id ibn Jumhan?" He said: "No."

- Muhammad ibn 'Ali informed me, saying: Salih narrated to us, saying: I asked my father about Sa'id ibn Jumhan, and he said: "A Basran, the Basrans narrated from him."

- I heard Abu Bakr ibn Sadaqah saying: I heard more than one of our companions, and Abu al-Qasim ibn al-Jabali more than once, that they were present when Abu 'Abd Allah was asked about the hadith of Safinah, and he authenticated it. A man said: "Sa'id ibn Jumhan," as if he were declaring him weak. Abu 'Abd Allah said: "O Salih, take him by the hand—I think he said: 'Remove him'—this man intends to disparage the hadith of Safinah."

- Yazid ibn al-Haytham ibn Tahman informed me, saying: Yahya ibn Ma'in said: "There is no harm in Sa'id ibn Jumhan."
