681 - Muhammad ibn Makhlad informed me, saying: Nasr ibn Dawud told me, saying: Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Malik told me, saying: Abu 'Asim al-'Abbad my father told me, from Hisham, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: "Mu'awiyah was the most forbearing of people." They asked: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what about Abu Bakr?" He replied: "Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, is better than Mu'awiyah, and Mu'awiyah was among the most forbearing of people." They asked: "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, what about 'Umar?" He replied: "'Umar is better than Mu'awiyah, and Mu'awiyah was among the most forbearing of people."
