Translation · EN

700 - Abu Bakr informed us, saying: Abu al-Fath narrated to us, saying: Abu Nasr narrated to us, [and] al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Safwan ibn 'Amr, and from Abu al-Yaman or someone else, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, mentioned the conquest of al-Sham and said: "How can it be, when there are men among them whom we consider more insignificant than ticks on the hindquarters of camels?" The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had a small staff (mihsara) in his hand, and he placed it between the shoulder blades of Mu'awiyah and said: "May Allah be sufficient for them through a youth from Quraysh." And he gestured with the staff and fixed it between the shoulder blades of Mu'awiyah.
