Ibn al-Farra' said: Ya'qub ibn Shaybah mentioned in the first part of the Musnad of 'Ammar: I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal being asked about the hadith of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, regarding 'Ammar: "The rebellious group will kill you." Ahmad said: "It is as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: the rebellious group killed him." He also said: "There is more than one authentic hadith on this subject from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him," and he disliked speaking on this matter with anything more than this. This book is narrated by Abu al-Qasim 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Azaji from Ibn Hammah al-Khallal, from Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ya'qub ibn Shaybah, from his grandfather Ya'qub.
قَالَ ابْنُ الْفَرَّاءِ: وَذَكَرَ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ فِي الْجُزْءِ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْ مُسْنَدِ عَمَّارٍ: سَمِعْتُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ حَنْبَلٍ سُئِلَ عَنْ حَدِيثِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي عَمَّارٍ: «تَقْتُلُكَ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ» . فَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ: كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَتَلَتْهُ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ. وَقَالَ: فِي هَذَا غَيْرُ حَدِيثٍ ⦗٤٦٤⦘ صَحِيحٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَكَرِهَ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ فِي هَذَا بِأَكْثَرَ مِنْ هَذَا "، فَهَذَا الْكِتَابُ يَرْوِيهِ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ الْأَزَجِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ حَمَّةَ الْخَلَّالِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ يَعْقُوبَ
