740 - Al-Maymuni informed us, Ahmad narrated to us, Hammad ibn Usama narrated to us, saying: Hisham narrated to us, from his father, who said: "The first man to draw his sword in the cause of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) was Al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam. A rumor was spread by the devil that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had been seized, so Al-Zubayr came, splitting through the people with his sword, while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was in the upper part of Makkah. He said, 'What is the matter with you, O Zubayr?' He replied: 'I was informed that you had been seized.' He said: So he prayed for him and invoked blessings upon him and his sword."
