Translation · EN

741 - Muhammad informed us, he said: Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Yahya ibn Hani' ibn Urwa al-Muradi, who said: A man said to Abdullah ibn Amr: "Did you go out [to battle] with Mu'awiya?" He replied: "As for me, I did not strike with a sword, nor did I pierce with a spear, nor did I shoot with an arrow. However, the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'Obey your father,' so I obeyed him."

٧٤١ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هَانِئِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ الْمُرَادِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو: خَرَجْتَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ؟، قَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَضْرِبْ بِسَيْفٍ، وَلَمْ أَطْعَنْ بِرُمْحِ، وَلَمْ أَرْمِ بِسَهْمٍ، وَلَكِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «أَطِعْ أَبَاكَ» ، فَأَطَعْتُهُ
