413 - Yahya ibn Ja'far mentioned it, saying: Ibrahim ibn Bakr Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba said: "The early elders, when a man would pass by them, would say: 'This is an 'Uthmani,' and that would please them." He said: So I said to Sa'id: "How is this?" He said: "Because if he prioritizes 'Uthman, he does not harbor hatred toward 'Ali."
