417 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from Qatada, from al-Hasan, that 'Uthman ibn 'Affan brought gold coins and scattered them in the lap of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The Prophet began turning them over and saying: "Whatever 'Uthman does after this will not harm him."
