420 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Waki' narrated to us, from Mis'ar, from 'Imran ibn 'Umayr, from Kulthum al-Khuza'i, who said: I heard Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "I would not love it if I had shot 'Uthman with a single arrow, even if I were to have the equivalent of Mount Uhud in gold." Mis'ar said: I believe he said: "I mean killing him."
٤٢٠ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا ابْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ كُلْثُومٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ⦗٣٢٨⦘ يَقُولُ: «مَا أُحِبُّ أَنِّي رَمِيتُ عُثْمَانَ بِسَهْمٍ، وَإِنَّ لِي مِثْلَ أُحُدٍ ذَهَبًا» ، قَالَ مِسْعَرٌ: أُرَاهُ قَالَ: أُرِيدُ قَتْلَهُ
