443 - 'Abd al-Malik informed us, saying: Ibn Hanbal related to us, saying: Isma'il related to us, saying: Ayyub related to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Mulaykah, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr, who said: I said to 'Uthman: "O Commander of the Faithful, there is with you in the house a group, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, helps with fewer than them, so permit us to fight." He said: "I adjure a man by Allah," or he said: "I implore a man by Allah not to spill his blood for my sake." Ayyub said: Or he said: "Not to spill blood for my sake."
٤٤٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا ابْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِعُثْمَانَ: " يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، إِنَّ مَعَكَ فِي الدَّارِ عِصَابَةً يَنْصُرُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْهُمْ، فَأَذَنْ فَنُقَاتِلْ، فَقَالَ: أُذَكِّرُ اللَّهَ رَجُلًا، أَوْ قَالَ: أَنْشُدُ اللَّهُ رَجُلًا أَهْرَاقَ فِيَّ دَمَهُ "، قَالَ أَيُّوبُ: أَوْ قَالَ: «أَهْرَاقَ فِيَّ دَمًا»
