893 - Abdullah ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Mu'adh narrated to us, saying: Al-Aghdaf 'Amr ibn al-Walid narrated to us, saying: I said to Mu'adh ibn Mansur: Who told you that Ubayy ibn Ka'b turned Ibn Mas'ud away from his discourse regarding the Decree (al-Qadar)? He said: So he replied: A man whom I do not know narrated it to me. He said: I then said: But I know who he is. He said: So he asked: Who is he? I replied: Satan.
٨٩٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: ثَنَا مُعَاذٌ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْأَغْضَفُ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِمُعَاذِ بْنِ مَنْصُورِ: مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ أَنَّ «أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ رَدَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ حَدِيثِهِ فِي الْقَدَرِ» ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ لَا أَعْرِفُهُ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: فَأَنَا أَعْرِفُهُ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: مَنْ هُوَ؟ قُلْتُ: الشَّيْطَانُ
