895 - Al-Duri informed us, saying: I heard Yahya say: Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi was among the people most distant from [the views of] the Qadariyyah regarding divine decree. He said: They came to Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi and said: Say, "Lesbianism is by divine decree"—referring to the sexual intercourse between women. He replied: "I will not say it, lest I be treated lightly." However, he said: "Everything is by divine decree."
٨٩٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا الدُّورِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى يَقُولُ: كَانَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ مِنْ أَبْعَدِ النَّاسِ فِي الْقَدَرِ، قَالَ: وَجَاءُوا إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ⦗٥٤٢⦘ مَهْدِيٍّ، فَقَالَ: قُلِ السِّحَاقُ بِقَدَرٍ؟ يَعْنِي سِحَاقَ النِّسَاءِ، فَقَالَ: لَا أَقُولُ: يُسْتَخَفُّ بِي، وَلَكِنَّهُ قَالَ: كُلُّ شَيْءٍ بِقَدَرٍ
