937 - Yusuf ibn Musa informed me that Abu Abd Allah (Ahmad ibn Hanbal) was asked about the deeds of the creation, regarding whether obedience and disobedience are decreed for them? He said: "Yes." It was said: "And are wretchedness and happiness decreed for the servants?" He said: "Yes." It was said to him: "And do people return to the will of Allah concerning them, whether it be good or evil?" He said: "Yes."
٩٣٧ - أَخْبَرَنِي يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَعْمَالِ الْخَلْقِ، مُقَدَّرَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ وَالْمَعْصِيَةِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ: وَالشَّقَاءُ وَالسَّعَادَةُ مُقَدَّرَانِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قِيلَ لَهُ: وَالنَّاسُ يَصِيرُونَ إِلَى مَشِيئَةِ اللَّهِ فِيهِمْ مِنْ حَسَنٍ أَوْ سَيِّئٍ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ
