985 - 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: I heard Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah say: Sufyan al-Thawri said to me: "Will you not speak to Mis'ar—meaning regarding al-Hilaliyyah [a sect associated with Irja']—that is, concerning his views on Irja'?" My father and Abu Nu'aym said: Mis'ar said: "I am in doubt about everything, except for my faith."
