987 - Musa ibn Sahl informed me, saying: Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Asadi narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Sa'id, who said: I asked Ahmad: 'He who says: "I am a believer according to myself in terms of legal rulings and inheritance, but I do not know what I am in the sight of Allah, the Majestic and Exalted," [what is he?]' He replied: "This is not a Murji'."
٩٨٧ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ سَهْلٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْأَسَدِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ⦗٥٧٤⦘ أَحْمَدَ: مَنْ قَالَ: أَنَا مُؤْمِنٌ عِنْدَ نَفْسِي مِنْ طَرِيقِ الْأَحْكَامِ وَالْمَوَارِيثِ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُ مَا أَنَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، قَالَ: «لَيْسَ هَذَا بِمُرْجِئٍ»
