989 - Abu Bakr al-Marwadhin informed us, saying: It was said to Abu 'Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal]: The Murji'ah say: 'Faith is speech.' Should I pray for them? He replied: 'Pray for them to be guided to righteousness.'
٩٨٩ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْمَرُّوذِيُّ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: الْمُرْجِئَةُ يَقُولُونَ: الْإِيمَانُ قَوْلٌ، فَأَدْعُو لَهُمْ؟، قَالَ: «ادْعُوا لَهُمْ بِالصَّلَاحِ»
