1070 - Harb ibn Isma'il al-Kirmani and Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath al-Sijistani informed me—the meaning is similar. Harb said: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: I heard Sufyan [say]. And Sulayman said: I heard Ahmad, [who] said: I heard Sufyan saying: "If a person is asked: 'Are you a believer, if Allah wills?' he should not answer him, for your asking me is an innovation (bid'ah), and I do not doubt my faith." He said: "[Saying] 'if Allah wills' is not disliked, and it does not imply doubt."
