1071 - Ahmad ibn al-Hasan informed me that he asked Abu 'Abd Allah: [Someone] says to me: 'Are you a believer?' He replied: 'His asking you is an innovation (bid'ah). Say: "I am a believer, I hope [to be]."' I said: 'Should I say: "If Allah wills"?' He replied: 'If you say: "If Allah wills" and "I hope [to be]" [it is acceptable].'
