1076 - Zuhayr ibn Salih ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal informed me, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: My father was asked about Islam and Iman (faith). He said: Ibn Abi Dhi'b said: "Islam is the statement, and Iman is the action." It was said to him: "What do you say?" He replied: "Islam is different from Iman," and he mentioned the hadith of 'Amir ibn Sa'd, who said: "O Messenger of Allah, he is a believer (mu'min)." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Or a Muslim?"
