1078 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Rawh narrated to us, saying: 'Awf narrated to us, from Thumamah ibn Anas, who said: So-and-so said: "Iman (faith) is one portion (sahm), Islam is one portion, prayer is one portion, fasting is one portion, jihad is one portion, hijrah (emigration) is one portion, Hajj is one portion, Zakat is one portion, enjoining good is one portion, and forbidding evil is one portion. Take your portion, for he who has no portion has surely failed."
١٠٧٨ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا رَوْحٌ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ فُلَانٌ: «الْإِيمَانُ سَهْمٌ، وَالْإِسْلَامُ سَهْمٌ ⦗٦٠٦⦘، وَالصَّلَاةُ سَهْمٌ، وَالصَّوْمُ سَهْمٌ، وَالْجِهَادُ سَهْمٌ، وَالْهِجْرَةُ سَهْمٌ، وَالْحَجُّ سَهْمٌ، وَالزَّكَاةُ سَهْمٌ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ سَهْمٌ، وَالنَّهْي عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ سَهْمٌ، اضْرِبْ بِسَهْمِكَ، وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ لَا سَهْمَ لَهُ»
