1083 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, saying: Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, from al-Fadl ibn Yasar, who said: Muhammad ibn 'Ali said: "This is Islam—and he drew a circle with another inside it—and this is the faith which is inside it, confined within Islam." And regarding the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: "A person does not commit adultery while he is a believer, nor does he steal while he is a believer, nor does he drink wine while he is a believer," he said: "He exits from faith into Islam, but he does not exit from Islam entirely. If he repents, Allah will accept his repentance, and faith will return to him."
١٠٨٣ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا ابْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ: «هَذَا الْإِسْلَامُ، وَدَوَّرَ دَوَّارَةً فِي وَسَطِهَا أُخْرَى، وَهَذَا الْإِيمَانُ الَّذِي فِي وَسَطِهَا مَقْصُورٌ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ» ، وَقَوْلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، قَالَ: يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، وَلَا يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ الْبَتَّةَ، فَإِنْ تَابَ تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ، وَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ الْإِيمَانُ "
