828 - Abu Yahya al-Naqid—may Allah have mercy on him—informed us, saying: Zakariya ibn Yahya related to us, saying: al-Hasan—meaning Ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Jarwi—related to us, saying: Yahya ibn Hassan related to me, and they were discussing what had occurred between the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and the discourse that took place among them. He said: 'It is not for us to repeat what they said about one another.' Then he said: Hammad ibn Zayd said: 'How about the hadith of Shihab ibn Khirash, from his uncle: "Discuss the virtues of the Companions of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) so that the hearts of the people may be drawn to them, and do not mention their faults."'
