852 - Muhammad ibn Ja'far informed me that Abu al-Harith narrated to them, saying: I asked Abu 'Abd Allah and said: A man is mentioned in whose presence al-Hajjaj is spoken of, so he says: 'He is a disbeliever'? He replied: 'It does not please me.' I said: 'If he is mentioned in his presence, may he curse him?' He replied: 'Let him say: "Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers" [Hud: 18].'
Abu 'Abd Allah said: 'He was indeed an evil man. Ibn Sirin narrates from him that he said: "The poor man is Abu Muhammad." He [the narrator] said: And I heard a man say to him: "And who will refrain from mentioning of al-Hajjaj that he was a disbeliever who did not believe in the Day of Reckoning, and that he is among the people of the Fire?" So he remained silent and did not respond to him with an answer.'
