Translation · EN

876 - Al-Maymuni informed me, saying: Al-Qa'nabi narrated to me, from Malik, from his paternal uncle Abu Sahl ibn Malik, who said: 'I was walking with 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, and he said: "What is your view regarding these Qadariyyah?" I replied: "My view is that you should ask them to repent; if they repent, [it is accepted], and if not, you present them to the sword." 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz said: "That is my view." Malik said: "And that is my view."

877 - 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hanbal informed me, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, and he mentioned it to the end, and added: Hanbal said: "I asked my uncle [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] about that, and he said: 'And that is my view.'"
