1163 - Abu Bakr al-Marrudhi informed us, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Shammas narrated to us, saying: I heard Jarir ibn 'Abd al-Hamid say: "Faith is statement and action, and faith increases and decreases." It was said to him: "What do you say?" He replied: "I say: I am a believer, if Allah wills."
