1231 - Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, he said: Harb ibn Shaddad narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, that Ya'ish ibn al-Walid narrated to him, that al-Zubayr ibn al-'Awwam narrated to him, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The sickness of the nations before you has crept toward you: envy and hatred. And hatred is the shaver; I do not mean that it shaves hair, but it shaves away the religion. By Him in whose hand is my soul—or he said: By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad—you shall not enter Paradise until you believe, and you shall not believe until you love one another. Shall I not inform you of what will establish that for you? Spread the greeting of peace (salam) among yourselves."

١٢٣١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، قَالَ: ثنا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، أَنَّ يَعِيشَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ الْعَوَّامِ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " دَبَّ إِلَيْكُمْ دَاءُ الْأُمَمِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمُ: الْحَسَدُ وَالْبَغْضَاءُ، وَالْبَغْضَاءُ هِيَ الْحَالِقَةُ، لَا أَقُولُ تَحْلِقُ الشَّعْرَ، وَلَكِنْ تَحْلِقُ الدِّينَ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، أَوْ: وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ، لَا تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا، وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا، أَفَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ مَا يُثَبِّتُ ذَلِكُمْ، أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ "
