1234 - Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ata' ibn Yazid, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Adi ibn al-Khiyar, from al-Miqdad ibn 'Amr, who said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if a man strikes me with his sword and cuts off my hand, then seeks refuge from me behind a tree and says, 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah); should I kill him?" He said, "No." I repeated it twice or thrice, and he said, "No, unless you would be like him before he said what he said, and he would be like you before you did what you did."
