1099 - Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Khalid informed me, saying: Ishaq ibn Rahawayh was asked about the Murji'ah: 'Why are they called Murji'ah, even though they do not defer (yurji'un) sins to Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He?' He replied: Al-Nadr ibn Shumayl said: 'They were given this name because they speak the opposite, similar to the Muhakkimah, who say: "There is no judgment (hukm) but Allah's," and similar to the Qadariyyah, who speak in opposition to the Qadar (divine decree). If a man were to deny it, he would be named.'
