1131 - Abu Bakr informed us, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Yazid narrated to us. And 'Abd al-Malik al-Maymuni informed me, saying: Ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Yazid narrated to us, saying: Ibn Abi Dhi'b informed us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Amir ibn Sa'd ibn Malik, from his father, from the Prophet (peace be upon him): That a group came to him and asked him, so he gave them [charity] except for one man among them. Sa'd said: So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you gave them but left out such-and-such a person, and by Allah, I truly see him as a believer.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Or a Muslim.' Sa'd repeated that to him three times: 'A believer,' and the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied to him: 'Or a Muslim.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said on the third occasion: 'By Allah, I truly give to a man—while someone else is dearer to me than him—for fear that Allah (the Almighty and Majestic) might throw him on his face into the Fire.'
١١٣١ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ثنا يَزِيدُ. وَأَخْبَرَنِي ⦗٤٣⦘ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ الْمَيْمُونِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا ابْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: ثنا يَزِيدُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَنَّهُ أَتَاهُ رَهْطٌ، فَسَأَلُوهُ، فَأَعْطَاهُمْ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ، فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْطَيْتُهُمْ وَتَرَكْتَ فُلَانًا، فَوَاللَّهِ، إِنِّي لَأَرَاهُ مُؤْمِنًا: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَوْ مُسْلِمًا» . فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ سَعْدٌ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثًا مُؤْمِنًا، وَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ: «أَوْ مُسْلِمًا» ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ: «وَاللَّهِ،» إِنِّي لَأُعْطِي الرَّجُلَ الْعَطَاءَ غَيْرُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ؛ تَخَوُّفًا أَنْ يَكُبَّهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فِي النَّارِ "
