1141 - Abu Bakr informed us, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Hasan ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far al-Khatmi, from his father, from his grandfather 'Umayr ibn Habib, who said: "Faith increases and decreases." It was said: "What is its increase and its decrease?" He replied: "When we remember Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, praise Him, and glorify Him, that is its increase; and when we are heedless, neglectful, and commit evil, that is its decrease."
١١٤١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: ثنا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْخَطْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ، قَالَ: «الْإِيمَانُ يَزِيدُ وَيَنْقُصُ» . قِيلَ: مَا زِيَادَتُهُ وَنُقْصَانُهُ؟ قَالَ: إِذَا ذَكَرْنَا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَحَمِدْنَاهُ وَسَبَّحْنَاهُ، فَتِلْكَ زِيَادَتُهُ، وَإِذَا أَغْفَلْنَا وَضَيَّعْنَا وَأَسَأْنَا فَذَاكَ نُقْصَانُهُ "
