1155 - Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath informed us, saying: I said to Abu 'Abd Allah: "We have relatives in Khurasan who hold the views of Irja', so should we send written greetings of peace to them?" He said: "Subhan Allah, why would you not greet them?" I said to Abu 'Abd Allah: "Should we speak to them?" He said: "Yes, unless he is a caller [to his doctrine] and argues about it."
١١٥٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْأَشْعَثِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: لَنَا أَقَارِبُ بِخُرَاسَانَ يَرَوْنَ الْإِرْجَاءَ، فَنَكْتُبُ إِلَى خُرَاسَانَ نُقْرِئُهُمُ السَّلَامَ؟ قَالَ: " سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ لَمْ لَا تُقْرِئْهُمْ؟ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: فَنُكَلِّمُهُمْ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ دَاعِيًا وَيُخَاصِمُ فِيهِ "
