1774 - Abd al-Malik informed me that he discussed with Abu Abd Allah the matter of the Jahmiyyah and what they speak about. He said regarding their speech: 'It is the speech of heresy (zandaqah); they revolve around negation (ta'til), they do not affirm anything, and such are the heretics.' Abu Abd Allah also said: 'It has reached me that they say a thing while they claim it and then immediately contradict it. They say: "He is a thing in all things," yet they also say: "A thing cannot be within a thing." He [Abu Abd Allah] said to me: "Thus, he has abandoned his first statement,"' and he [Abu Abd Allah] turned away in astonishment.
١٧٧٤ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، أَنَّهُ ذَاكَرَ أبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَمْرَ الْجَهْمِيَّةِ وَمَا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ بِهِ، فَقَالَ فِي كَلَامِهِمْ: «كَلَامُ الزَّنْدَقَةِ، يَدُورُونَ عَلَى التَّعْطِيلِ، لَيْسَ يُثْبِتُونَ شَيْئًا، وَهَكَذَا الزَّنَادِقَةُ» . وَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ شَيْئًا هُمْ يَدَعُونَهُ وَيَنْقُضُونَهُ عَلَى الْمَكَانِ، يَقُولُونَ: هُوَ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَشْيَاءِ كُلِّهَا، وَلَيْسَ الشَّيْءُ فِي الشَّيْءِ، قَالَ لِي: فَهُوَ قَدْ تَرَكَ قَوْلَهُ الْأَوَّلَ "، وَأَقْبَلَ مُتَعَجِّبًا
