1819 - Sulayman informed us, saying: I saw Abu 'Abd Allah being greeted by a man from the people of Baghdad, among those who, as it reached me, held the position of waqf (abstaining from taking a position on the Quran). He was al-Maghazili, and he (Abu 'Abd Allah) said to him: "Be gone, and let me not see you coming to my door!" [He said this] in harsh language, and he did not return his greeting. He then said: "How much you are in need of being dealt with as 'Umar dealt with Subaygh!" Then he closed the door. I did not understand, so he (the narrator) explained to me what 'Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) did to Subaygh, through a man from among our companions.
