With ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd Qays

89 - 'Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: Surayj ibn Yūnus narrated to me: al-Ḥasan ibn Mūsā narrated to us: Shuʿba narrated to us, from Ḥabīb ibn al-Shahīd, who said: I heard Abū Bishr—meaning al-Walīd—narrating from Sahm ibn Shaqīq, who said: I came to ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd Qays and sat at his door. He came out having taken a Ritual bath (Gusl), so I said: "Indeed, I see that the Ritual bath (Gusl) pleases you." He said: "Sometimes I take a ritual bath." He said: "What brought you?" I said: "Hadith." He said: "Did you ever know me to love hadith?"
