113 - ʿAbdullāh narrated to us, saying: It was narrated to me on the authority of Ashhab ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, from Mālik ibn Anas, who said: Ṭāwūs used to return from Hajj and enter his house, and he would not leave it until he went out for Hajj the following year. He said: And Ṭāwūs used to prepare food and invite to it the needy among the People of the Veranda (Aṣḥāb al-Ṣuffa). It was said to him: "If only you prepared food lesser than this?" He would say: "They can hardly find any."
