From the Counsels of Simāk ibn Salama

149 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Jarīr narrated to us, from Mughīra, who said: Simāk ibn Salama said to me: "O so-and-so! Beware of having many close friends." (1).

Notes

  • (1) Ibn Abī al-Dunyā reported it in al-Tawāḍuʿ wa-l-Khumūl (40), with the same chain of transmission and text.
And his saying yā ful: meaning, O so-and-so (yā fulān).
