Corrupt Statement

159 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: ʿAlī ibn Muslim narrated to us: Sufyān, May Allah have mercy on him, narrated to us: Riyāḥ ibn ʿAmr al-Qaysī narrated to us, who said: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār saying: "A man does not reach the status of the truthful (al-Ṣiddīqīn) until he leaves his wife as if she were a widow, and takes refuge in the dunghills of dogs." (1)

(1) Its Chain of transmission is munkar (denounced):
Transmitted by Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilya (2/359 - 6/194), from the route of ʿAlī ibn Muslim, with it.
I say: And in it is: Rabāḥ — with a two-dotted bottom letter yāʾ — ibn ʿAmr; Abū Dāwūd said regarding him: "An evil man," by al-Dhahabī (2/16), and see by al-Dāraquṭnī (2/1038). And the entire statement is unauthentic and munkar (denounced); how could a man leave his wife and take shelter in dogs' kennels?? Could he after this be among the truthful ones? And are these actions among the qualities of the truthful ones? Absolutely not; so beware, beware of the reports of evil people.
