190 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us, from Thābit ibn Muḥammad the Worshiper, who said: I heard Salama the Worshiper say: "Were it not for the congregation—meaning prayer in congregation—I would never have stepped out of my door until I died." And I heard him say: "Those obedient to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, have not found a pleasure in this world sweeter than seclusion in intimate conversation with their Master; nor is there anything more beloved to them in the Hereafter, among the great rewards, greater in their breasts or sweeter in their hearts, than looking at Him." He said: Then he fainted. And Salama used to break his fast every night from predawn to predawn, and he would perform his ablution for prayer at that time before dawn until the same time the next day.
