From the Signs of the Hour

198 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad al-Muḥāribī narrated to me, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Walīd, from Makḥūl, who said: A man said: "When is the coming of the Hour, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The one questioned about it knows no more than the questioner! But it has signs and the drawing near of markets." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what is the drawing near of its markets?" He said: "Their stagnation, rain with no vegetation, that backbiting spreads, children of fornication multiply, the owner of wealth is magnified, the voices of the transgressors are raised in the mosques, and the people of evil prevail over the people of truth." A man said: "So what do you command me to do?" He said: "Flee with your religion, and be a mat among the mats of your house." (1).
