Who is the Best of People?
203 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Ḥammād al-Ṭahrānī narrated to us, saying: I heard ʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUtba, or ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yazīd, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said: A man said: "Who among people is best, O Messenger of God?" He said: "A believer who strives with his life and his wealth in the cause of God." He asked: "Then who?" He said: "A man who secludes himself in a mountain pass, worshipping his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, and leaving people safe from his harm."
