I Found Sitting with People to Be Evil

10 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, saying: Yaḥyā ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to me, saying: Mālik ibn Anas narrated to us, saying: Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Juhaym al-Anṣārī was a participant of Badr, and he would not sit with people, but rather secluded himself in his house. They said to him: "Would that you sat with people and they sat with you?" He said: "I found sitting with people to be evil." And ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr was the person who sat with him the most, and he used to narrate to him concerning tribulations. So when there occurred regarding ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr what occurred in al-Shām, he said: "You narrated to me what you narrated to me, and then this was his affair! By Allāh, I owe it to God that I shall never speak to him again." (1)
