35 - Muḥammad narrated to me, he said: Rustum ibn Usāma Abū al-Nuʿmān narrated to me, he said: ʿUmayr ibn Ṣadaqa narrated to me, he said: Dāwūd al-Ṭāʾī was a friend of mine, and we used to sit together in the circle of Abū Ḥanīfa, until he withdrew and kept away. So I came to him and said: "O Abū Sulaymān! You have shunned us." He said: "O Abū Muḥammad! That gathering of yours has nothing to do with the affair of the Hereafter." Then he said: "I seek forgiveness from Allāh, I seek forgiveness from Allāh," then he stood up and left me. (1).
